I have been a fan of Marvel since i could remember, being an 80’s kid was quiet a norm to buy comics, comics in the 80’s and 90’s used to be what entertained kids, as we were not spoilt with all those super-hero movie we have nowadays. Super-hero comic books are fascinating with how it makes your imagination run wild, and it takes you in to a completely different world. I used to read a lot of X-men, Batman and Spider-man comic books, and Thanos was always part of the Marvel Universe. Seeing Thanos translated from the comics to a movie, it was fascinating. I must admit, i went to watch Infinity Wars, around 5 Times. As an artist it was an art lesson watching The Avengers, Infinity Wars.
I have been really happy being able to paint again at Odin’s Eye Tattoo in Bury. so im considering doing a super-hero oil paint one day, and I am sure Thanos will be a part of the painting.
Hello everyone, and welcome to my weekly tattoo blog. Everyday I wake up in the morning, I feel lucky and grateful, that life is giving me an opportunity to start again, life blessed me to be around artists who have the same philosophies as me, and I have never felt a part of a Family as I do now. Sometimes, life will have to move from where you are, in order to bless you, and make you prosper.
In this blog I would like to touch a subject close to my heart, which is black and grey art and tattoos. Black and grey is a style of tattoo that caught up my attention in the beginning of my career, by an artist called “Bob Tyrell”. Bob Tyrell was a tattoo artist who really blew me away with his realism black and grey tattoo looks. Before Bob Tyrell, there was an artist called “Paul Booth” who used to tattoo, horror, dark related tattoos, but Bob Tyrell took all that to the next level.
As the time went by, I started to travel, and finding out other black and grey artists, like Robert Hernandes, Victor Portugal, Carlos Torres, and my passion for black and grey tattoos expanded even more. Each of those artists, had a touch of their own style, and I discovered that the best way to build your own style in black and grey tattoos is to enhance your drawing abilities.
So I started drawing black and grey images, and understood that, drawing a black and grey image, it makes me understand how light falls, and it teaches me how to better deal with the human body. Sometimes I’m very grateful I still draw, not only for personal pleasure, but I can fell myself becoming a better artist.
I was private for many years in Leeds, and coming to Manchester, I have gone back to work in a public studio, and I have to say, I’m really enjoying. I’m really enjoying the challenge, working in a public studio, there are a lot of responsibilities, and one of them is, doing a walk in. We are a walk in tattoo studio in Bury, Greater Manchester. However, I do understand the responsibility involved in order to take a walk in , you have to be able to make quick decisions, you have to be able to change their idea in a short amount of time.
Zara walked in the studio this week, I was busy working on a video with a friend of mine, however, I gave her my business card, and asked her to message me on what’s app. Finishing what I had to do I messaged Zara, and asked her to come back to the studio.
Zara was very friendly, and she was totally sure about what she wanted, and she was aware about the design having to be clear, in order to age well, so we made some changes in the design, to make it look a bit more clear, I printed the design in 2 sizes and she picked the largest size out of the 2, which I was happy about, as I knew it would be great for longevity.
Zara was 18 years old, and she was very sensible for an 18 year old, I can see her having really good quality tattoos in the future, because she does her research, and have a good eye for good quality tattoos.
The tattoo process went really well, and Zara, seemed really relaxed to the sound of “Nujabes” one of my favourite bands to play in the studio.
Sometimes, doing small tattoos can be effective and you can leave a positive mark on someone, who you spent so little quality time with.
