Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope everybody had a good Christmas and New Year, it feels good to start a fresh year. I am grateful about 2024, for finding a place to work in Manchester finally, however, anything else, I would like to bury really deep, throw a lot of rock on top and walk away, that’s how we should treat anything that no longer serves us, things that keeps us stuck in the past and not allowing us to move on.

In this year of 2025, I have no plans, but to be focused on my work, I’m still building my reputation back in Manchester, where I lived for 10 years before I moved to Leeds, I do have a challenge ahead of me, however its exiting. It was hard leaving everything behind after 13 years, but I did not mind to start again, as soon as it was somewhere I was meant to be, and I was working with the right people.

In this post I would like to share a Tattoo that I was really happy to do, I was happy to do it not just because of the subject, which I love to tattoo Ancient Egypt related Tattoos, but for the way my client Ben treated the tattoo, his approach, dedication and patience. After the Tattoo was healed, Ben came back for a healed picture, and he mentioned, you did a good job Louis, and I replied, you allowed me to do you a good job for you Ben. As when his tattoo was finished and all paid for, I asked him to come back for a touch up session, and he allowed me to add one more layer on his tattoo, which it makes all the difference. So thank you Ben for allowing me to do the best I could on your tattoo. So you deserve to have a good tattoo, you stuck with the process and you got the end result.

Choosing The Best Tattoo Studio in Bury, Greater Manchester

Greater Manchester Tattoo Studio

The only person who can decide which is the best Tattoo Studio in Greater Manchester is you. And everyone will have a different perception about how a Tattoo Studio should be. Some Tattoo Studio’s do look amazing, however the quality of work is not up to standard. I do believe everything matters in a Tattoo Studio. A Tattoo Studio that doesn’t look clean or presentable, but does good quality work, does not deserve your business, in a tattoo studio everything matters, cleaning standards should be at the highest level, tattoo images should look at the best quality possible online, as Tattoo Artists who care will invest in a good camera. Looking at a tattoo work healed is a very good way to decide if the Tattoo Artist is right for you, as when you see a Tattoo fully healed, that’s the moment of truth, and when a Tattoo Artist cares, they will consider how they tattoo will look when its healed.

I do ask my clients to come back to the studio after the Tattoo is healed, because I think, if I don’t see that tattoo healed, I’m not in control how my tattoo looks. Everyone has a different skin, therefore, every tattoo will heal differently. It doesn’t matter how much of a good Tattoo Artist you are, not all your tattoos will heal perfect or the same, so letting your client go, and not being aware of how that tattoo is healed, is a big gamble to take. I learn to tattoo everyday, as everyone has a different sort of skin. So I can not tattoo the same everyday, as everyday I get a new client, and their skin is completely different than the last one I tattooed.

I believe a lot in energy, so I would recommend you to have a consultation with your Tattoo Artist, the reason why, is because, even knowing you mite like someone’s tattoo work, it doesn’t mean you are going to feel comfortable with them, and making sure your frequency flows with your artists, literally, getting a vibe with your artist really helps, to make sure you will feel comfortable in the chair with them, even if its for a small tattoo. Your Tattoo must be a positive experience, so take your time to research, book a consultation, have a chat about your tattoo before you go ahead with the appointment.

Tattoo Studio Bury

Which is the best Tattoo Studio in Greater Manchester?

This is a very big question to answer, and of course, every Tattoo Studio will insist that, they are the best option to go to, in Greater Manchester. However, every tattoo fan has the right to choose the artists that they consider to be the best for the job they want. However, in this blog, I’m not only going to guide you to find the best tattoo Artist for you, however, I’m going to explain what Odin’s Eye Tattoo Collective in Bury, has to offer, which it makes the studio unique, and a top on the list of tattoo Studio’s to go in Greater Manchester.

First of all, when looking for a Tattoo Artist, you are looking for someone who is an Artist, someone who is an artist means someone who can draw and paint. So checking a Tattoo Artist, drawing and painting portfolio is imperative, because that will allow you to get a feel for what they do, their style, and how their work looks. With the age of technology, nowadays it is possible not mix and max images on the iPad, and a lot of people, unfortunately collect a tattoo, that has no flow, and looks static.

At Odin’s Eye tattoo, there are 3 artists who can draw, and are passionate about art. We work with custom tattoos based on every client request.

At Odin’s Eye Tattoo, you can have tattooed any style of work, as Left Hand Tony works with symmetrical tattoos, like Mandalas, Tribal, Māori, he also loves doing cartoony style tattoos, and animation.

Louis Santos, works with Fantasy, realism and Mythology. As you can see in my drawings and paintings, I also love to do fine tattoos. I can also do script Tattoos, custom writing.

Sween is really good with his Vikings related tattoos, Portraits and line work.

So style, and quality of work wise, Odin’s Eye Tattoo Collective has a lot to offer. Every request that arrives in the studio, the request is passed to the artist who’s more passionate about the style, and the artist who’s got more experience and expertise in the Tattoo Style.

How much does a tattoo Costs?

Tattoo Price Factors in Greater Manchester

Understanding what influences the cost of your Tattoo in Bury, Greater Manchester.

How much does a Tattoo cost? How long is the tattoo going to take? That is the most commonly asked questions I get asked every day.

In this blog, I would like to focus on the first question which is how much does a tattoo costs. Everyone wondering to get a tattoo, should know that, every artist has a different price, that’s because every artist knows how much their stuff is worth.

However, its not about how expensive or cheap a tattoo artist may be, its all about how much you love their work. Everybody has a different approach to tattooing, and everyone is so unique in what they do, that, choosing Tattoo Artist, A, B, C or D, your tattoo will look completely different. So choosing a Tattoo Artist, based on how much you are a fan of how their work looks, it has a big benefit, due to how the tattoo will look on your skin for a life time.

Tattoo Artists nowadays, charge by the hour. The reason why you pay by the hour, is so, you are not over paying the Tattoo Artist, and the Tattoo Artist is not getting under paid. When you pay by the hour, is as fair as it can be, as you know where you are every session you have with your Tattoo Artist.

A lot of clients ask how much the tattoo will cost in total, and I guarantee, no Tattoo Artists will ever guess exactly the same amount of time, how long the tattoo will take. Specially on big scale of work. That’s why paying by the hour, is the best way to approach the price of a Tattoo.

Small tattoos is easier to guess how long its going to take, however, remember, small Tattoos are also difficult to do, so make sure to choose someone with clean lines technique, as sometimes, doing a small tattoo, there is very small room for mistakes, and the precision is a lot more required than when doing a big tattoo.

Getting Tattooed in Greater Manchester

Feminine Tattoo in Bury

Tips on The Best Way to get Tattooed in Greater Manchester

  1. If you start getting tattooed by someone, make sure you love their work, stick with the process, and don’t get somebody else to finish your tattoo. Every artist have a different style, and approach to doing a tattoo, when you are getting tattooed by someone, a lot of energy and emotions goes into the tattoo, getting somebody else to finish your tattoo, it only brakes the energy you previously had, and as we are all unique human beings carrying energy, whichever artist you choose to finish your tattoo started by somebody else, the tattoo will not match exactly the same. Even 2 artists who do the same style, their work look different from one another. So choosing your artist carefully is imperative, to avoid getting finished by somebody else, which it will not work.
  • A peace of mind- When getting tattooed, its important, that your tattoo artist is in a good frame of mind. Concentration is a big part of what contributes to a good quality tattoo. So coming by yourself, it would be very peaceful to the Tattoo Artist. Bringing all your friends or all your family to get tattooed, it mite feel safe to you, however is very distracting to your Tattoo Artist. While you are getting Tattooed, talking to your friend, will make you react and move, while the Tattoo Artist is trying to do the best tattoo on you. That’s why in our studio, only the client is allowed through to the treatment area, in order to allow the tattoo artist to deliver the best quality tattoo as possible.

Tattoo Studio Bury

Tips on how to get tattooed in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Hello Everyone, Thanks for looking at my tattoo blog.

In this blog I would like to guide tattoo fans on how to best approach a tattoo and choose the artist who resonates with you personally, and your tattoo request.

The reason why I have decided to create this blog is because, I have been working at Odin’s Eye tattoo collective since April, and it’s a public tattoo studio. Working in a public studio, we have customers walking in and out every day, and sometimes I’m faced with surprise requests, and it surprises me sometimes, how some customers need a bit of guidance with how to best approach a tattoo studio.

In this blog, I will give you some tips, which it will help you, how to best approach a tattoo studio that works best for you, and leaving your Tattoo Artist with a positive mind set, about your tattoo request, which it will contribute to a better and positive tattoo for you.

One thing that really surprises me, is how tattoo clients sometimes, walk in a tattoo studio, and they are not sure, who they want to get tattooed by. So Tip number one

  1. Before walking in a tattoo studio, make sure to do your research, only message a studio if you have looked at their work and you like their style or their work. After looking at someone’s work, you still need to book a consultation, the reason why you book a consultation, its, so you feel if you like the tattoo artist energy, and the studio’s energy. We all have different frequencies, and liking someone’s work is a good start, however, seeing the artist you are considering getting tattooed by it really helps, as you are going to allow the artists to tattoo you, the more positive the artist is when they tattoo you, the better the tattoo outcome.
  2. Walking in a tattoo studio without knowing the artists work or not being sure if you want to get tattooed by them, it will cause a lot of confusions. As the Tattoo Artist, should not be trying to convince you to get tattooed by them, as a client its your job to approach a Tattoo Artist who will resonate with your request.
  3. Do not try to smart a tattoo artist on prices, I see a lot of clients coming in the studio, and trying to get a discount straight way. Your Tattoo Artist will have more chance to give you a discount, or looking after you more, when you build a trust and a relationship with your Tattoo Artist. If you try to be smart trying to get a discount you will get charged. Every tattoo Artist knows how much their work is worth, so if someone charges less, it means they believe their work is worth less.
  4. When you get tattooed you are not spending your money you are investing your money. And its on your body for a life time. So before going ahead with a tattoo, make sure to save your money, and get prepared for it financially, and give the god quality tattoo your body deserves.
  5. When you want a walk in, you want a last minute tattoo. I see a lot of clients coming in and asking, do you do walk ins? And sometimes, the tattoo request it requires planning. Doing a walk in, you are trying your luck, and the Tattoo Artist will not have much time to make the best decisions for you, when my clients have a request, and make an appointment, sometimes, I draw their request 3 times, so the outcome is the best it can be. With a walk in, the time to make decisions is so short, so you are not going to get the best outcome your tattoo deserves.

Marvel Universe Tattoo

Marvel Universe Tattoo.

I have been a fan of Marvel since i could remember, being an 80’s kid was quiet a norm to buy comics, comics in the 80’s and 90’s used to be what entertained kids, as we were not spoilt with all those super-hero movie we have nowadays. Super-hero comic books are fascinating with how it makes your imagination run wild, and it takes you in to a completely different world. I used to read a lot of X-men, Batman and Spider-man comic books, and Thanos was always part of the Marvel Universe. Seeing Thanos translated from the comics to a movie, it was fascinating. I must admit, i went to watch Infinity Wars, around 5 Times. As an artist it was an art lesson watching The Avengers, Infinity Wars.

I have been really happy being able to paint again at Odin’s Eye Tattoo in Bury. so im considering doing a super-hero oil paint one day, and I am sure Thanos will be a part of the painting.

Egyptian God / Female Viking Warrior

Tattoo Artist Manchester

Egyptian God / Female Viking Warrior

In this drawing, I tried to express myself in mythology, going a bit further by mixing 2 legendary Mythology cultures, including the Egyptians and the Vikings. Egyptians were very aligned to the after life, and understood that life is a lot further than we could imagine. I have watched many documentaries about Egyptian mythology and I must say that it has blown me away, on how advanced they were technology wise.

This drawing was done in A2 size, which is probably my favourite size to work with. The reason why I love to draw on A2, is the space it allows me to get lost in the drawing, I used to draw a lot on A3, however, io started to realise how limited I was due to space in the paper. When I first tried A2, It felt right, and I was able to add more ideas to my drawing, and have more freedoom, due to how much space I had.

Drawing also allows me to try different ideas before attempting someone’s skin, drawing on a paper, it allows me to see if a new idea works out or not, before putting it on a client. Drawing also makes me a better artist, teaching me how to problem solve when dealing with a tattoo.

I do believe when you tattoo, you are still drawing on skin.

Phoenix Feminine Tattoo

Large Feminine Phoenix tattoo

What an experience I had doing this thigh feminine Phoenix Tattoo. She approached me with the request to draw a phoenix for her customised, I happily accepted the request as I love drawing, and she seemed happy to go ahead. As our consultation passed by, she mentioned to me, that, she made the same request to other tattoo studios, and they mentioned she had to bring the image ready for them to tattoo. And she insisted, could you design something customised for me, and they insisted saying no, we need the image ready for us.

I believe, getting prepared for my clients, getting a design customised specially for them, and understanding and getting in to what they want done, is one of the most exiting parts about being a tattoo artist. Some Tattoo Artists mite enjoy Tattooing, however, I enjoy every aspect of it, including cleaning the studio, to make me feel comfortable and my clients comfortable, looking after my clients, making coffee and tea, making videos, learning new skills, painting, drawing. All things around tattooing I enjoy working on, that’s why, any tattoo request for me, I see it as an opportunity.

I believe, the more time I spend planning a tattoo, the better it comes out, so spending time making sure the design is as good as it can be, its imperative. I have designed the head of this Phoenix, about 7 times, erasing and erasing, until I was happy with it. This inspiration came from when I heard the story, about how “Smaug” the dragon from “The Hobbit” the movie was designed, apparently they designed that Dragon 100 times before they went ahead with the final design. When I heard that, everything made sense to me, based on how good that Dragon actually looks, if you have not seen The Hobbit, I would recommend, that dragon is out of this world.

Cover-up tattoos in Bury Greater Manchester

Gladiator tattoo/ Cover-up tattoo in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Cover-ups is a type of tattoo work I’m passionate about. A cover-up tattoo is for sure a challenge, so I do like to have a consultation with the client, as the client has a lot of explanation to do, based on how I feel the consultation, I make my mind up about taking the work or not. I choose if to do the cover-up or not based on how patient my client is, as a cover-up tattoo requires a lot of patience, and I have to feel comfortable with the client, in order to wish to spend long time in the chair with them.

When you need a tattoo covered, unfortunately you do have a problem. So your first step is to find a tattoo artist in Greater Manchester, who you will resonate with their work, you need to book a consultation with them, have a good chat about your issue, and then the tattoo artist will decide weather is a good fit to go ahead with your request or not.

Some clients, when I have a consultation about their cover-up tattoo, I can see their request is very challenging based on how dark their tattoo is, how large the tattoo area that needs covering is, however, the client is so nice, that I take the request, as they have such a good attitude, where it gives me hope and inspiration to help them. I try to say that your attitude, will dictate how good your tattoo is, and when someone has a good attitude towards their tattoo, booking a consultation, giving me the opportunity to look in to their request, making an appointment, giving me the opportunity to plan their tattoo request, being patient during the process, letting the process flow naturally, having faith that the tattoo will be done eventually, allowing me to work in a good frame of mind, all those good qualities can only take you to one path which is a good quality successful tattoo.
