It was a pleasure working on this black and grey cherub tattoo. It was a memorial Tattoo for Jose, so a lot of meaning attached to it. One of the reasons why i draw is to bring new ideas to life, with the rise of technology, a lot of tattoo images come from google nowadays, so we keep seeing the same image being tattooed over again. I use and recommend the iPad to do certain things, which it will save a lot of time, however is very important not to stop drawing as a tattoo artist, as we are constantly dealing with the human body. Only tattoo artist who draw are capable to deal with the human body accordingly. Not everyone will have the eye to notice that, In order to make your tattoo flow in the human body, it requires drawing skills, drawing in tattooing is being forgotten, as a lot of tattooists care about is how to tattoo, however, they do not consider that the tattoo is being applied in a human body. I speak about the importance to draw as a tattoo artist, because i had a seminar with Guy Aitchinson, and the whole seminar was about how to deal with the human body. Im gonna make a youtube video, based on how important it is to draw as a tattoo artist. The image i most see duplicated in tattooing nowadays in that statue of Zeus, god of thunder. My client asked me for a Zeus god of thunder, and i free handed for him, to give him something new and an image that has not been seen before, because that image of the statue of Zeus, its been tattooed so much. Realism Black and Grey Tattoo Artist
Black and grey Tattoo, half sleeve complete. Clock, rose, and swallow. This half sleeve was most part free hand, apart from the clock, free handing, it allows me to follow the customers body, and deliver a clean and flowing to the body tattoo. Every Tattoo, it requires human body flow, and the only way to make the Tattoo flow with the body is by applying a foundation drawing knowladge to the human body, and a lot of practise on the drawing board. This half sleeve is half healed and half fresh. Really looking forward to see whats coming next.

Black and grey traditional illustration. Black and grey Egyptian God and Az tech Indian warrior fantasy illustration. I love drawing digitally too, however drawing traditionally you can not cut corners, you have to do every texture by hand, which I think is a great practice for when you tattoo. When you tattoo you have to do every texture by hand, with an iPad you can touch the pen in the iPad, and all the texture appears for you, which sometimes is very practical, however, sometimes I like to go back to foundation, and when you do every texture by hand, in realism or black and grey, you can have a sense of achievement, instead of a sense of skipping steps digitally. I understand, everything changes, and digital art has changed art a lot, there are apps nowadays, where the app does the art for you, you see amazing images online, where there was no drawing from the “artist”, and I don’t mind that. However, out of my artistic experience in my life time, I want to feel like I have worked for something instead of skipping steps.
It was a pleasure working with Ken. He planned a full sleeve based on wild life as he loves animals, so he got a lion, elephant, zebra, tiger and many more. It was interesting to see his passion for wild life, I was born in Brazil so I took all this for granted, it wasn’t until I came to England that I realised how different and safer life is over here, when you open your back door in the morning and see a crocodile, I thought it was normal in Brazil, I couldn’t see that happening in England. That’s why I like living over here, so i don’t have to deal with crocodiles in my back garden.
I have been doing a lot of black and grey tattoos lately, tattooing and drawing, having a lot of fun with it. I tried to do my own version of Archangel Michael, this could be a start of an idea for a full sleeve of Angels, I will get to draw some more, it would be fun to being some of them to life in the drawing. A black and grey sleeve of angels would look pretty cool, I have not done one for a while, it’s on the waiting list.
